Do These 5 Things to Stop Self Sabotaging Yourself

mindset Dec 01, 2020

Do you feel it?

That resistance?

Whenever you try to move towards what you want it’s like there’s a rubber band around your waste that is bolted to the wall behind you. You exert energy to move forward but the band just pulls you back again.

The band is the ego. Our ego wants to keep us safe and comfortable. “Don’t go too far from what we know! Don’t stretch me too much!”

You can call it self sabotage, you can call it your paradigms, the ego, limiting beliefs…whatever. It keeps you from getting to where you want to get.

I’m not going to lie. I haven’t found any shortcut to the process of growth. Nor have I seen anyone that ever mastered themselves to the point where they don’t go through this resistance anytime they are going to a new level in life.

It’s part of the journey.

But what I have found, is there are some tools that can help us in this process. We all have to climb the mountain of life. You can do it without any tools and a huge bag of bricks on your back or you can make your way to the summit with ropes, anchors, a safety harness, food, water and a much lighter load.

Some tools that will help

  1. Meditation. Please do not glaze over this. Meditation is key to releasing stress off your nervous system and getting back to your natural state of joy, peace, love, kindness, abundance and harmony. I am a strong advocate for Streamline Meditation as it gets you results much faster than anything else I’ve seen. https://www.streamlinemeditation.com/free_intro/ref/79/

  2. A strong support network. You must pay attention to your environment. Who are the people you are surrounding yourself with? Imagine setting a weight loss goal and then spending all your time with people that eat donuts, chips, pizza and pop all day long. Compare that to spending most of your time with people that are working out every day, living an active lifestyle and pumping their bodies full of healthy food. Place yourself around people and in situations that support where you want to go.

  3. Become aware of the process of transformation. When you feel the resistance and the strong pull to go back safety - to the comfort zone - see it for what it is. Be aware that the thoughts you are having are just thoughts - they are not you. Disengage emotionally from them and be the observer.

One trick I use when my ego/paradigm starts telling me how something isn’t going to work or that I’m not enough is to imagine a little ant. I imagine the ant saying all those things “Who do you think you are? You’ll never be successful at this. Do you know how hard it will be to live that way? You aren’t strong or smart enough for that. You’re not worthy and don’t deserve it. Just quit now…. Blah blah blah” I let it run it’s mouth until it says everything it wants to say. Then I smile and step on that damn little thing and grind it into the ground. Then I say to myself what I know is true. “I am worthy and I can do this. All things are possible and I will be given what I need, when I need it. Look at everything I’ve made it through and the growth I’ve experienced so far…I can make it through this and will be better on the other side of it. I am powerful, smart, loving, lovable, successful, and blessed!”

As we recognize the discomfort that comes when we are growing to a new level as simply the process of transition then it looses a lot of its power. Soon you’ll just be like, “hello old friend. Here we are again.” And then you can just move through it. You don’t see the paradigm - your negative thoughts - as truth anymore.

  4. Don’t take on too many things at once. Habits keep us stuck in our ways. When you try to change too many at the same time you're asking for trouble. Pick one or two things to work on and then once you have successfully formed the new good habit, then work on another one.

  5. Energy work. There are so many different kinds of modalities that work for assisting you in releasing limiting beliefs and low frequency emotions. I use muscle testing to find trapped negative emotions in the body and then release them. It’s an amazing way to speed up the process of healing and transformation. When I’m working with my clients to raise their vibration to be in alignment with their goals we release the low vibration emotions that have been keeping them stuck in lack and limitation. Doing this combined with developing a strong self image and taking inspired action towards their goals is a dynamite combination.

Never forget that if you can dream it you can do it. You are not your thoughts. You are more powerful than you can ever know.

Love you!
