How to Quit Your Job and Do What You Love

Uncategorized Oct 27, 2020

There is such a misconception today about how to create money and ultimately how to do life in general! When we are going through school and especially high school we aren’t encouraged to discover our mission in life…we are taught to get a job that will make us enough money to get the house and the car and maybe take a vacation once a year.

Rather than asking our young people "what are you doing after high school?" Why not ask  “What would you love to do with your life? How do you want to make this world a better place? What are you passionate about?” Instead we ask where they are going to go to college, what they’re taking and what job they want to have.

Sadly this results in a lot of people finding themselves several years into their careers very unhappy and unfulfilled.

I see it all the time and I speak from first hand experience. Someone follows the system, goes to college and gets the job. This person works for awhile and begins resenting their job because they aren’t free to do what they really want. So they keep trying to fill that inner hunger  of living their true purpose with outside “fixes.” They find someone to do life with, then they get the mortgage and buy the house, finance the car, and take a hot holiday or two. But something is still missing. Kids! The next years are spent having and raising little munchkins and these two people who are juggling work, family, bills, kids, friends, a house, and are exhausted and living in survival mode.

The dissatisfaction and frustration increases. It can take its toll on the marriage, on their health, and on other relationships. And before you know it, they are asking how they got here, who are they really and what do they actually want to do with their life.

Sadly most people just suppress that inner hunger for something more, something amazing, something purposeful and fulfilling.

But, if you’re the odd one that isn’t willing to settle for a life of mediocracy then keep reading.

When you know it’s time for a change

If you’re not happy with how your life is right now, then you can change it. Is it easy? No. Then everyone would do it right? But is it possible? Absolutely yes! The only reason it doesn’t work for some people is because they quit.

So where do you start?

1. What would you love?

Don’t fall back into your conditioning that says, “what will work and have the smallest chance of failure and won’t make me too uncomfortable while making me the minimum of money I need.” Start thinking, “If I knew whatever I chose to do would work, what would I do?”

If you would really love to train dogs but you think you will run an e-commerce store because that’s how other people are making money, then you have things backwards. You can make money around any passion. If you do something just because you see other people succeeding at it, then you’ll create the same situation you are in now…doing something you don’t enjoy and that isn’t in alignment with your soul.

2. Find someone who has done what you want to do and pay them to teach and guide you.

I know so many people that are afraid to spend money…they want everything for free. I beg you to listen to me on this one. I spent soooo much money and went into debt trying to figure stuff out on my own. I honestly would have saved a lot of money if I had paid a coach/mentor to guide me. I would have avoided a lot of costly mistakes.

Money invested in someone else’s knowledge and experience is a wise investment.

3. Small, consistent action every day.

This is really important as we can be really impatient and want our life transformation NOW. If I’m being fully transparent this is a huge struggle for me. I can be very impatient. This leads to me taking action quickly which can be good, but also means that I sometimes take wrong action because I want things before their time.

What I see happen (my life included) is that because we want things to happen quickly we will take massive action and then not see instant results and then get discouraged and do nothing for a while. You will be much better off taking small consistent action daily rather than massive action once a month or every couple of weeks.

4. Don’t quit your job yet!

I always encourage people to not quit their jobs right away. Start with small consistent action, even if it’s just an hour a day, towards your goals and get income coming in from that before reducing hours at your job or quitting all together.

The main reason for this has to do with vibration. The thing is that the majority of people are not masters of their vibration (feelings) yet and so if there isn’t money coming in they go into a panic or their stress levels go up. If you are trying to run a business and create/attract money the last thing you want to happen is to be in a vibration of “needing” money and lack of money. This will only create more needing and lack.

Staying at your job while working on your passion business on the side may mean you have to give up some other things that take your time (TV, Social media scrolling, etc) but it will help you to stay in a good vibration of security and financial peace.

Once you get yourself to a place where you have replaced your income or you are able to live off your income and your partners then you can consider quitting your job to focus your full attention on your passion business and scale it. Woohoo!!

5. Stay in a good place vibrationally

This will make it or break it for you. If you are working on your business and you’re constantly stressed, frustrated, worried, doubting, fearful and/or negative then the chances of you achieving your dream are very very small. Treat this as a game. Have fun with it. Be light about it. Even if it takes you 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, wouldn’t it be worth it?

Being patient with yourself and the time it takes to create your dreams is key. You don’t have to worry about if it’s going to work. It’s going to work! It just may take some time so why not enjoy that time instead of giving yourself an ulcer from stressing out.

When you’re feeling good, things work easier and faster for you. So being in a good vibe is in your best interest as it will make the process of creation much more effortless.

Jeff Bezos was in a meeting with Warren Buffett, and he asked America’s most prolific investor, “You’re the second richest guy in the world, and it’s so simple. Why doesn’t everyone just copy you?”

Warren Buffett responded to Jeff by saying, “Because nobody wants to get rich slow.”

Be Patient, have faith, know that what you desire is already yours and then enjoy the ride.
